  1. Who can sign up for U Broadband plans?

    UB SIM plan is a standalone DATA package introduced by U Mobile. The data plans will have various pricing levels and speed for customer to subscribe

  2. I would like to use U Broadband on my mobile phone. How do I activate U Broadband on my mobile phone?

    Dial *118# and select U Broadband from the menu, OR send an SMS with “ON UBxx” to 28118 where 'UBxx' represents the data plan you would like to subscribe to. Example: SMS to 28118.

  3. I would like to use U Broadband on my laptop. How do I sign-up?

    You may sign-up for our UB SIM plan where you will be given a broadband only SIM card. You can then use this SIM card on your HSDPA modem. To sign up for UB SIM plan, please visit our service center or authorized dealers.

  4. How will I know whether I have successfully subscribed to U Broadband?

    A SMS notification will be sent you upon successful activation of your U Broadband plans. We advise you to start using U Broadband only when you receive this confirmation SMS.

  5. What is data allowance? How much data can I use?

    Data allowance is the amount of data that comes together with a particular U Broadband plan. After the data allowance is used-up, subscribers will be charged at standard pay-per-use rate of RM0.05 per MB.

  6. What do I need to use U Broadband service?

    You need to have a 3G/HSDPA mobile phone or modem.

  7. I am using U Broadband on my mobile phone. Are there any phone settings I need to set to use this service?

    You need to configure your mobile phone setting before you can use U Broadband.

    • Dial *118# and select Phone Settings.
    • OR
    • SMS ALL to < 22138 >.

  8. I am using U Broadband on my laptop with a HSDPA modem. Are there any HSDPA modem settings needed?

    Yes. In general under your modem software settings configurations, please fill – in APN: my3g Dial: *99#

  9. What is U Broadband’s fair use policy?

    Kindly refer to our Fair Use Policy.

  10. Can I use the data allowance when I am roaming overseas?

    No, this data allowance is only applicable within U Mobile 3G coverage areas in Malaysia only. You will be charged roaming data charges while roaming outside of U Mobile 3G coverage.

  11. How do I check U Broadband coverage?

  12. How can I subscribe to U Broadband plan?

    If you are an existing U Mobile postpaid subscriber, you can activate U Broadband with your postpaid account. To active U Broadband service on your mobile, you may

    • Dial *118# and select U Broadband from the menu.
    • OR
    • Send SMS with “ON UBxx” to 28118 where “UBxx” represents the data plan you would like to subscribe to Example: SMS to 28118.
    Alternatively, if you prefer to have a broadband only SIM (to be used with your laptop), you may sign up for UBSIM. Please refer to UBSIM section for more details. To sign-up for UBSIM, please visit our U Mobile service center or authorized dealer.

  13. Can a supplementary line be used to subscribe to this service?

    Yes, all active U Mobile postpaid lines are entitled to subscribe to U Broadband.

  14. Is there any deposit required for the subscription?

    No. If you are activating U Broadband service on your postpaid plan, there is no deposit required.

  15. How can I check my data allowance usage?

    You can check your data allowance usage by

    • Dial *118# and select U Broadband, then select Check Usage.
    • OR
    • SMS to 28118

  16. Will my monthly subscription fee be pro-rated if I activate U Broadband plans in the middle of the month?

    Upon activation, your monthly subscription charge will be pro-rated from the date of activation until the end of the first billing month.

  17. Will my monthly subscription fee be pro-rated if I terminate U Broadband in the middle of the month?

    You will be charged the full month’s subscription fee when you terminate your service.

  18. What happens to my remaining data allowance if I upgrade or downgrade to another U Broadband plan?

    Your remaining data balance will be forfeited.

  19. How do I terminate my U Broadband plan?

    You may terminate your U Broadband plan by sending SMS with “STOP UBXX” to 28118, where UBXX represent your U Broadband plan. Or, by dialing *118#, select U Broadband, select “Unsubscribe U Broadband”. Note that if you have UBSIM plan, you would need to visit U Mobile service center to terminate your U Broadband service.

  20. Can I use U Broadband if my line is barred / suspended?

    You will not be able to use U Broadband services if your line is barred / suspended.

  21. Am I allowed to switch to other U Broadband plans?

    Yes, you are allowed to switch to another U Broadband plan at anytime. To switch plans, you need to first deactivate your current plan and activate your new plan.

      To deactivate your current plan:
    • Dial *118#, select U Broadband, select 'Unsubscribe U Broadband'.
    • Or,
    • Send SMS with “STOP UBXX” to “28118”, where UBXX represent your U Broadband plan
    • To activate new U Broadband plan:
    • Dial *118#, select U Broadband, select 'Subscriber to U Broadband'
    • Or,
    • Send SMS with “ON UBXX” to 28118, where UBXX represent your U Broadband plan.

  22. Will I be charged service tax for the data plans?

    No, there is no service tax applicable for data.

  23. What is U Broadband UBSIM?

    UB SIM is a broadband only SIM. The SIM can only be use for broadband access and cannot be used for voice and SMS services. You will receive a monthly bill for U Broadband service.

  24. How can I subscribe to U Broadband UBSIM?

    Please visit our U Mobile Service Centres/Authorized dealers to subscribe to UBSIM.

  25. Is there any advance payment for UBSIM?

    There is a RM68 advance payment for UBSIM plan. The advance payment will be used to offset your U Broadband usage charges. Any balance in the advance payment will be carried forward to following month.

  26. How will this advance payment be reflected on the bill?

    The advance payment will appear on the Statement of Account and will be deducted from the total amount payable.

  27. What if the total usage for the month is less than the advance payment?

    The advance payment will be carried forward to the following month and will be used to offset the following month’s usage bill.

  28. Am I allowed to switch plans?

    If you have UBSIM, to switch U Broadband plans, kindly call our customer service at 1318 or 018-388-1318.

  29. How can I check my current data allowance usage?

    To check your current data allowance usage, remove the SIM card from your modem then plug the SIM card to your phone.
    Dial *118# and select U Broadband, then select Check Usage.

  30. Can I use the “UBSIM” SIM card for telephony services (Voice/MMS, etc)?

    No, this SIM can only be used for data.
