Prefix "011" / 3+8 Numbers

  1. What is 3+8 numbering?
  2. 3+8 is a new numbering initiative assigned by MCMC to increase the availability of mobile phone numbers due to number exhaustion. All 3+8 numbering plan will share prefix “011” , followed by 8 digits numbers. Eg : 011 xxxxxxxx.

  3. Why prefix “011”? Doesn’t U Mobile prefix starts with 018?
  4. Prefix “011” is non-exclusive to any operators - it is a shared prefix for 8 digits numbering. Prefix “018” is still available for 7 digits numbering.

    In this point in time, our 3+8 numbers range between 011- 11000000 to 011- 1149 9999.

  5. Will the existing 3+7 ( prefix 018 ) numbers be changed to this new format?
  6. No. Existing 3+7 mobile numbers will remain as it is. Both 3+7 and 3+8 formats will co-exist . There will be no impact to existing subscribers.

  7. Will there be any service interruption calling from 7 digits to an 8 digits mobile number?
  8. No. There won’t be any service interruption calling from 7 digits to an 8 digits number.

  9. Can I port into U Mobile with my 3+8 numbers?
  10. Yes. MNP is possible for 3+8 numbers.
