U Mobile (formerly known as MiTV Networks), is the subsidiary of U Television (formerly known as U Telecom Media Holdings and MiTV Corporation) which is active in the multimedia and communications industry.
U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 3G service provider seeks to enrich the lives of its customers by making communication, entertainment and information easily accessible through advanced technology that is simple to use and high in value.
In April 2007, U Mobile signed Malaysia's first ever nationwide domestic roaming memorandum of understanding as a precursor to an agreement with Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad allowing U Mobile's customers to experience nationwide coverage from day one of service availability.
Nationwide domestic roaming will allow U Mobile customers to experience nationwide coverage while U Mobile continues to progressively rollout its own unique HSDPA-driven mobile network. U Mobile operates on its own mobile network where available and is rapidly expanding this network to cover as many areas in the country as possible.
In December 2007, global mobile communications leaders KT Freetel of South Korea and NTT DoCoMo of Japan announced that both will collectively invest USD$200 million for a total 33% stake in U Mobile supporting U Mobile's rapid go-to-market and product diversification plan. This strategic partnership marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for U Mobile which will give rise to enhanced and diversified products and services.
U Mobile has also recently introduced a postpaid service – U38 plan that has the lowest commitment fee plan available today. Our customers also can benefit from the two-month free trial of U Mobile's broadband service which is available on its HSDPA–driven on 3G network in the Klang Valley – a high speed network that delivers broadband–like experience to mobile users.
In 1 July 2008, U Mobile launched its first ever prepaid package that is set to break the 3G market with its unique value proposition. The innovative plan developed based on the 018 concept (zero/free starter pack, 1–sec billing and 8sen/sms), introduces per–second billing to consumers and provides great value–add by offering free prepaid starter packs along with 8sen per SMS across all networks for all customers, all the time.
U Mobile is currently the only 3G service provider in Malaysia to offer per–second billing for all its postpaid and prepaid plans.
U Mobile's 018 Prepaid customers can enjoy per–second billing (at 0.8sen/sec) for all voice and video calls, a feature that charges consumers based on the exact duration of the call.
Our 018 Prepaid plan is regarded as one of the most value for money in the country, offers free starter packs that are pre–loaded with RM1 talk time credit. This feature allows customers to enjoy further savings by eliminating the need to purchase starter packs, and with RM1 preloaded into all starter packs, customers can start making calls right away without spending a single sen.
We will continue to look at ways to offer the best value and savings to our customers. Like all U Mobile call plans 018 Prepaid also benefits from U Mobile's trademark same low rate for voice and video calls.
In conjunction with the introduction of 018 Prepaid, U Mobile also launches two new postpaid plans – U68 and U98. U68 offers even lower call rates allowing customers to maximise the benefits of U Mobile's unique per second billing with the flexibility of no contract periods. U98 introduces phone bundling with a selection of high, medium and low end phones that are offered at special prices with an 18 month contract to suit every need and budget.
In addition to the new postpaid plans, U Mobile will also be offering a special SIM only version of its popular Surf with U high-speed mobile internet package.
