Domestic Coverage Map

  1. What is Domestic Roaming (DR)?
  2. Domestic Roaming provides you the ability to get connected to other network operator when customer's home network is unavailable. Our DR partner is CELCOM, who offers nationwide coverage to you on behalf of U Mobile. We want to ensure that you, as our subscriber, are always covered!

  3. What are the advantages of DR?
  4. You will enjoy uninterrupted, nation-wide coverage so you can make voice calls and send SMS anytime, anywhere

  5. Are Celcom subscribers able to log on to U Mobile when they perform a network search?
  6. CELCOM subscribers will not be able to roam with U Mobile’s network.

  7. Will an icon be displayed on the screen to indicate that the service is currently active?
  8. Yes. Our partner's network logo and name will appear on your phone screen, depending on the mobile phone and model used.

  9. I've switched my phone to Dual Mode, but I still can't log on to DR?
  10. It is not advisable to manually select our partner's network as our 3G services may not be accessible once you're back in our coverage area. Please call 018 388 1318 for further assistance.

  11. How do I know if my DR status is active?
  12. The partner's network logo and name will appear on your phone screen. This tells you that you are roaming on their network.

  13. Do I have to do a manual selection to revert to U Mobile's network after being on DR?
  14. It is not advisable to manually select our partner's network as our 3G services may not be accessible once you're back in our coverage area. Please call 018 388 1318 for further assistance.

  15. Do U Mobile users have the option to accept or reject connecting to the domestic roaming partner's services if there is no U Mobile coverage?
  16. No, you will not be able to choose. This domestic roaming agreement is to ensure that all U Mobile subscribers can make and receive voice calls and SMS even while outside of U Mobile's coverage areas. There are no additional charges for domestic roaming on our partner's network.

  17. How do I activate DR?
  18. DR is activated by default.

  19. How wide is U Mobile's DR coverage?
  20. Our partner's reach is nationwide, including East Malaysia.

  21. Will I experience any drop calls when I move from my U Mobile network to Celcom's on DR?
  22. You may experience some drop calls when moving between one network's coverage to another.

  23. Compared to Celcom users, would I experience the same signal strength while on DR if I use different types of mobile phones?
  24. Yes. All mobiles are designed according to GSM standards. If you experience huge variances in signal strength, you are advised to send your mobile to the nearest mobile clinic or Mobile Services centre for testing.

  25. How do I know which areas are under U Mobile's coverage?
  26. Please log on to http://www.u.com.my/broadband/coverage-locations to check for U Mobile 3G Coverage or call to 018-3881318 or 1318 for further assistance.

  27. What are the charges for a call made while on DR?
  28. Call charges are the same. There are no differences in rates for making calls whether in our coverage area or in domestic roaming coverage.

  29. How will my calls made while in DR be reflected in the itemized bill?
  30. It will be reflected as a normal call. There are no differences in rates for making calls whether in our coverage area or in domestic roaming coverage.

  31. What do I do if I lose my phone and need to replace my USIM card? How do I go about replacing it?
  32. Please visit our nearest U Mobile service centre or call to 018-3881318 or 1318 for further assistance.

  33. Am I able to send and receive MMS when I am out of U Mobile network coverage or Klang Valley?
  34. Yes.


        Data Roaming

  1. What is Data Roaming (DR)?
  2. Data Roaming allows U Mobile voice plan subscribers to access data services while roaming in Celcom outside of U Mobile coverage areas.

  3. How do I know if I can use data services in DR?
  4. If you are a U Mobile's Postpaid or Prepaid voice plan subscriber, you will be able to access data services such as WAP, MMS & Mobile Internet in DR.

  5. I am a U Broadband (UB) subscriber, can I roam in DR?
  6. If you are a UBSIM or Prepaid U Broadband subscriber you will not be able to use data services in DR.

  7. How do I know if I am roaming in DR?
  8. A “umobile2G” network name or our partner's network logo & name will appear on your phone display, depending on the mobile phone and model used.

  9. What are the charges for using data in DR?
  10. You will be charged 5 sen/MB if you do not have any data plan.

    If you are a Postpaid voice plan subscriber with a U Broadband data plan, the usage will be deducted from the volume quota assigned to each data plan.

  11. What connection speeds can I expect while roaming in DR?
  12. The connection speed will be EDGE/GRPS, depending on the coverage area you are in as well as the handset capability.

  13. Do I need to change settings on my phone to enable data usage in DR?
  14. Yes, by default data roaming is disabled on most phones. To switch on data roaming feature, look for “Allow Data While Roaming" under your phone settings and click select.

  15. Does the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) apply while roaming in DR?
  16. If Data Roaming in DR is enabled, does it mean International Roaming is also enabled?
  17. By default , International Roaming is not enabled.
