Voice & Data Plans

  1. What are the new Voice & Data plans?
  2. They are U Mobile's latest Postpaid Rate plans that aim to meet the needs of voice and data users:-

    U Lite : With U Lite, pay RM68 per month and enjoy 3GB data and free 300* minutes and 200* SMS.
    U Value : With U Value, pay RM98 per month and enjoy 3GB data and free 500* minutes and 300* SMS.
    U Plus : With U Plus, pay RM138 per month and enjoy 5GB data and free 700* minutes and 500* SMS.
    U Premium : With U Premium, pay RM168 per month and enjoy 5GB data and free 800* minutes and 800* SMS.

    * 50% of the Free Voice and SMS must be utilised for U Mobile to U Mobile voice calls / SMSes.

  3. What does Monthly Access Fee mean?
  4. Monthly Access Fee is the monthly subscription fee billed to the customer to be eligible for the freebies (Free Voice and Free SMS).

    No. There will not be a refund of Monthly Access Fee if the Free Voice and Free SMS are not fully utilised.

    50% of the voice and SMS freebies must be utilised for U Mobile to U Mobile voice calls / SMSes. E.g For U Lite, 150 minutes and 100 SMSes must be utilised via on-net.

  5. Am I able to use the Free Voice and Free SMS overseas?
  6. No. Free Voice and Free SMS are only for local usage. Data roaming charges will apply.

  7. Would I be able to carry over my unutilised Free Voice and Free SMS?
  8. No. They are to be used within the month. Unutilised Free Voice and Free SMS will be forfeited.

  9. I have excess quota for my on-net (U Mobile to U Mobile) Free Voice and Free SMS, could I convert these to off-net (U Mobile to Others)?
  10. No. They cannot be converted from on-net (U Mobile to U Mobile) to off-net (U Mobile to Others) and vice versa. For example, the total number of utilised minutes in the illustration below is 300 minutes. However, as the customer has exceeded the on-net (U Mobile to U Mobile) freebie of 150 minutes, Pay-As-You-Use (PAYU) rates will apply for the excess 30 on-net (U Mobile to U Mobile) minutes.

  11. What will I be charged after I have exceeded my Free Voice?
  12. Pay-As-You-Use rates will apply. 18 sen per minute chargeable by 30 second blocks.

  13. What will I be charged after I have exceeded my Free SMS?
  14. Pay-As-You-Use rates will apply. There will be a charge of 5 sen per SMS (U Mobile to U Mobile) and 12 sen per SMS (U Mobile to Others).

  15. What will I be charged after I have exceeded my 3GB data allowance for the U Lite / U Plus rate plan?
  16. You will be charged the Pay-As-You-Use rate of 5 sen / Mb.

  17. What will I be charged after I have exceeded my 5GB data allowance for the U Value / U Premium rate plan?
  18. There will not be any charges. You will still be able to use more data at no charge; however, the surf speed will be reduced.

  19. Do I need to make any advance payment for these rate plans?
  20. No. You will not need to make any advance payment when you take up any of these plans.

  21. What is the credit limit for each plan?
  22. The credit limit for U Lite is RM200. The credit limit for U Value / U Plus / U Premium is RM300.

  23. Can I check my data allowance like existing U Broadband (UB) add-on?
  24. No. Not at the present.

  25. Is data roaming available for these plans?
  26. Data roaming will be available at a later date.


Phone Subsidies

  1. U Mobile is offering phone subsidies for the phones purchased together with these plans. How does it work?
  2. Customers will have to pay an Access Fee amounting to the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of the handsets. The applicable phone subsidy will be offset in the monthly bills.

  3. Will the Voice & Data plan I take up affect the amount of subsidy?
  4. Yes. The phone subsidy will increase with the value of the Voice & Data plan. For e.g. The phone subsidy of the HTC Wildfire will increase as the value of the plan increases.

General Pricing and Customer Policies

  1. Are there any changes to the existing U Mobile Voice or Broadband only rate plans?
  2. No. The current Voice or Broadband only plans are still available.

  3. Can I purchase the phone without the taking up a plan?
  4. No. The phones are available only when bundled with a Voice & Data plan.

  5. Can I take up a price plan without a phone purchase?
  6. Yes, you can.

  7. Will there be additional charges when I access content when I am overseas?
  8. When roaming overseas, relevant roaming charges apply according to the network you are connected to. This will vary from country to country.

  9. If the phone that I have purchased is faulty, can I return it to U Mobile?
  10. All phones offered by U Mobile are covered by a one (1) year manufacturer’s warranty where applicable.  However, should the phone be found to be faulty after leaving the U Mobile Service Centre but within the warranty period, please proceed to the manufacturer’s Authorised Service Centre nearest to you.

  3. Am I able to port my existing number for these plans?
  4. No. These plans are not valid with Mobile Number Portability. It is suggested for you to take up a new U Mobile line.


Pricing and Customer Policies - Existing Customers

  1. I am an existing customer. Am I able to take up these Voice & Data plans with U Mobile?
  2. As long as you do not have an existing contract with U Mobile, you will be eligible for these plans.

  3. If I’m an existing U Mobile customer without a contract, would I have to take up a new line / new number?
  4. No. You will not have to change your number to enjoy the benefits of the Voice & Data plans.

  5. If I’m still under contract with U Mobile, would I be able to transfer to these Voice & Data plans?
  6. No. You’ll have to terminate the existing contract and early termination charges will apply. Suggest taking a new contract for the Voice & Data plans. Users are eligible to sign up for new price plans provided that they do not hold more than 3 principal lines at any one time.

  7. How many plans can I sign up with at U Mobile?
  8. 1 user is eligible for 3 principal lines. You can sign up to 3 rate plans with U Mobile. This will include existing voice / broadband plans and the Voice & Data plans.

  9. Where can I sign-up for the Voice & Data plans with U Mobile?
  10. Please visit any of our U Mobile Service Centres nationwide. The outlets are :

Early Termination

  1. Will I be able to get back the Access Fee if I terminate my plan before the contract ends?
  2. No. The remainder of the Access Fee will be forfeited.

  3. I would like to terminate my Voice & Data plan. What is the penalty?
  4. The remainder of the Access Fee that has not been offset in the monthly bills will be forfeited. Early Termination Charges (ETC) will also apply.

  5. How is the Early Termination Charges (ETC) calculated?
  6. ETC will be based on the daily Access Fee (Monthly Access Fee divided by 30 days) multiplied by the number of days remaining in the contract.
