Kuala Lumpur, 27 September 2010 – U Mobile, together with its technology partner Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) are pleased to announce U Mobile’s first Radio Base Station site ready to support the 42 Mbps Mobile Broadband service in Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur.
This deployment uses Dual-Carrier HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) connections that allow the network to send and receive wireless data using two channels simultaneously to achieve download speeds of up to 42Mbps.
U Mobile will begin the first 42Mbps Mobile Broadband setup in Berjaya Times Square. This will be followed by the commercial deployment of the service to other areas within Klang Valley in few weeks time.
“With the roll out of this new technology, U Mobile will be the first service provider in Malaysia to begin the deployment of a commercial Mobile Broadband service capable of delivering speeds of up to 42 Mbps using HSPA+. U Mobile’s subscribers will soon be able to enjoy superior mobile broadband service that offers high download speed and fast response time with the use of HSPA+ capable USB modem” said Dr Kaizad Heerjee, Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile Sdn Bhd.
