The Essentials

Woon was appointed as Chief Technology Officer in August 2018. Previously, he had worked with Total Access Communication (Dtac) Thailand, Digi, as well as Ericsson Malaysia. He holds a BE (Hon) in Civil Engineering from University of New South Wales.

 

 

Life at U Mobile

When Woon joined, U Mobile was transitioning out from a RANshare and his immediate task was to ensure a successful exit while working on building U Mobile’s own network. Having a challenger mindset, Woon set his intentions to prove that we could establish a competitive network despite being a smaller player at that time. Fast forward to today, Woon is proud of how far U Mobile’s network has come in terms of quality of service and quality of experience. Our network achievements to date can be credited to Woon’s goal-oriented and outcome-focused leadership style. He believes in direct and transparent communication to drive his team to success. 

 

 

Personal Outlook

Woon advocates for confidence and efficiency in everything he does. “Believe in what you do and go all in to do it in the best way possible,” he elaborates. At the same time, he is also a big fan of work-life balance and when he’s not making ideas into reality, he’s spending time with his family at parks or beaches. He also enjoys golfing in his spare time.
