Kuala Lumpur, 15 August 2024 - U Mobile, an award-winning mobile and digital services provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with Berjaya Rail Sdn Bhd to collaborate on 5G solutions and connectivity aimed at optimising operations and enhancing traveller experience of Berjaya Rail’s upcoming projects.
As part of this MoU, the partners will leverage respective strengths to conceptualise strategies that would enhance rail services, operations and experiences using 5G. U Mobile will share its extensive network experience to plan 5G deployment which will complement the operational insights provided by Berjaya Rail. The aim is to ensure a high quality and consistent 5G experience along proposed railway alignment and stations. Additionally, U Mobile will also share knowledge on 5G-Advanced solutions that utilises Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) to achieve greater efficiency, accuracy and reliability for Berjaya Rail’s upcoming railway operations.

Berjaya Rail is a subsidiary of Berjaya Land Berhad, a company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities with local and international business presence, and has expanded its core business to include rail transport. Berjaya Rail is currently participating in the Request for Information (RFI) by MyHSR Corp for the KL-SG High-Speed Rail (HSR) project.
The MoU was signed by Wong Heang Tuck, CEO of U Mobile and Farizul Baharom, CEO of Berjaya Rail.
