Kuala Lumpur, 22 January 2025 – U Mobile, Malaysia’s future second 5G network provider, and INTI International University & Colleges (INTI), a leading higher education institution known for its innovative approach to teaching, learning, and collaborations, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to play a critical role in the cultivation and empowerment of local talent at the tertiary institution. This latest initiative is in line with the telco’s ongoing drive to equip Malaysian talents with real-world industry experience and essential workplace skills.
The partnership will see students and graduates of INTI gain access to U Mobile’s holistic training programmes, designed to prepare them for the challenges of a dynamic, technology-driven industry. These programmes include its IT Apprenticeship Programme, a two-year initiative that immerses graduates in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data analytics, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
Additionally, the Internship Programme provides students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in areas like software development, engineering, and finance, while helping them develop essential workplace skills such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and adaptability. This MoU will also see U Mobile and INTI work together on a Graduate Trainee Programme, enabling the telco to tap into INTI’s top talent for its recruitment needs. As a valued partner, INTI International University & Colleges is also giving U Mobile employees the opportunity to enhance their professional growth through INTI’s Working Professional Programme as rate as part of the MoU.

We are also fully in support of the country’s vision of becoming a high income, digitally empowered nation, hence we believe our technical expertise will be invaluable to the young local talent who will be shaping Malaysia’s economy moving forward. Apart from internships and graduate programmes, we are also looking to collaborate with education institutions on providing industry feedback on their curriculum, engaging in joint research, and more. As the Malaysia’s future second 5G network provider, U Mobile will also unveil a 5G Innovation Centre soon that will give students and graduates an opportunity to test, study and analyse technology-driven projects with a variety of our partners, supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation goal,” said Norfazidah Abu Bakar, U Mobile’s Chief Corporate Services Officer.
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of INTI, Prof. Dr. Shamsul Nahar Abdullah, Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor of Academic Operations of INTI International University, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “At INTI, we are deeply committed to equipping our students with industry-ready skills that bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. This partnership with U Mobile represents a significant step towards achieving this goal. Through initiatives such as internships, graduate trainee programmes, and skills workshops, our students will gain invaluable exposure to the fast-evolving telecommunications sector, preparing them to excel in their future careers.”
This collaboration is part of U Mobile’s ongoing effort to expand its network of academic partnerships, aligning with a key corporate priority of fostering and retaining talent, as well as supporting Malaysia’s vision of becoming a digitally empowered nation.
U Mobile achieved recognition as the 2nd Runner-Up in the 2024 Graduates’ Choice Award for Preferred Employer in the Telecommunications Industry, solidifying its position as a top employer in Malaysia’s telco and technology sector.
