U Mobile Inks Latest MOU with Huawei to Enhance Experience and Accelerate Deployment of 5G and Future Technologies for Consumers & Enterprises

  • The MoUs will see both parties work together to further enhance overall 5G experience and prepare for rapid deployment of future Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies
  • Huawei Malaysia will also be providing its global expertise and technical insights to support U Mobile’s cost-efficient deployment of 5G
  • Both parties will continue to conduct research and development to increase adoption of 5G by both consumers as well as enterprises

 

Kuala Lumpur, 12 August 2024 – U Mobile, the award-winning mobile and digital services provider, and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia), a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the telco’s 5G strategic roadmap. It will see U Mobile tap into Huawei Malaysia’s global expertise for 5G network enhancements and evolution to future technologies. Both parties will also intensify research and development for better 5G customer satisfaction to increase adoption by both consumer and enterprise markets.

 

As part of the collaboration, U Mobile will work with Huawei Malaysia to deploy the most up-to-date hardware and software to achieve the most efficient and high performance second 5G network for Malaysia. Additionally, U Mobile will leverage Huawei Malaysia’s technical expertise to deploy future RAN technologies.

 

The telco is also looking to Huawei Malaysia to share their global expertise and extensive research and development (R&D) findings in order to collaborate on adopting advanced technologies to support market needs, particularly those of enterprises who have ultra low latency and massive bandwidth requirements. On top of that, both parties will explore opportunities for project financing, including options like vendor financing or deferred payment plans.

This partnership is yet another collaboration milestone for U Mobile and Huawei as early this year both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate strategically in 5G Innovation technology and 5G to Business (5G-to-B) to accelerate 5G adoption for businesses. This laid the groundwork for the current, more extensive partnership, demonstrating both companies’ dedication to advancing Malaysia’s telecommunications infrastructure and capabilities.
