Cheah Tek Kuang was appointed to the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director on 6 May 2026.


Mr Cheah began his career in 1970 with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) as an Economist, where he was involved in industrial planning, policy development and regional cooperation initiatives with ASEAN and multilateral agencies.


In 1978, he joined AmInvestment Bank Berhad and held various senior leadership positions throughout his tenure. In 2002, he was appointed Group Managing Director of AMMB, overseeing the Group's operations across Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Following the restructuring of the AmBank Group in 2005, he was appointed Group Managing Director of AMMB Holdings Berhad, where he was responsible for the Group's banking, insurance, fund management and investment banking businesses until his retirement in 2012.


Mr Cheah served as a Director of Bursa Malaysia from 2004 to 2022, during which he also served on various Bursa Malaysia committees.


Following his tenure at Bursa Malaysia, he served on the boards of several companies and was also a member of the Investment Panel of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP].


He currently serves as Chairman of two public listed companies.


Mr Cheah graduated with a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from University of Malaya and has been a Fellow of the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers since 2015.
