U Mobile Joins GSMA Open Gateway Initiative To Further Drive Innovation
Barcelona, 27 February 2024 – On 27 February, U Mobile signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to join the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, an industry-wide initiative that aims to provide a framework of universal network Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs) to enable universal access to operator networks for developers.
By signing this MoU, U Mobile commits to participate and collaborate in a series of GSMA activities that works towards meeting the goals of the GSMA Open Gateway. With the rapid adoption of 5G and advent of 5G-Advanced, GSMA Open Gateway’s network of common and open APIs will connect developers to telcos, harmonising services to enable innovations to be tested and even commercialised at a greater speed.
The MoU with GSMA was signed by Wong Heang Tuck, CEO of U Mobile, along with other telecommunications industry peers at the Malaysian Pavilion during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, Spain.
