Terms & Conditions
DIRECT CARRIER BILLING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. The Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) service enables you to pay for the content, digital services, applications, or subscriptions purchased from the third-party merchants, platforms, or app stores (“Services”) with your device using your U Mobile prepaid or postpaid account (“U Mobile Account”)
2. By subscribing to or using this Service, the Terms of Service of U Mobile Postpaid or U Mobile Prepaid service, and these terms and conditions including our Privacy Notice, will apply (collectively, the “Terms”), all of which are available on www.u.com.my.
3. Eligibility and Use
3.1. The Service is available only to eligible Active U Mobile subscribers at the age of eighteen (18) years and above, subject to U Mobile’s applicable eligibility, risk, fraud, credit, operational, and account criteria. “Active” means able to make and receive calls.
3.2. To use the Service,
(a) Your U Mobile number must be active;
(b) Your device or transaction must be recognised on the U Mobile network where required; and
(c) If you are a prepaid subscriber, you must have sufficient balance at the time of purchase.
3.3. You are responsible for all DCB transactions made using your mobile line, SIM, device, or account credentials.
3.4. U Mobile may reject, suspend, restrict, or terminate DCB or any transaction where reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, security, credit control, technical, legal, regulatory, Merchant, or operational reasons.
4. Merchant Services
4.1. The Services are provided by U Mobile’s third-party merchants, platforms, or app stores (“Merchants”), and not by U Mobile unless expressly stated otherwise.
4.2. Your use of any Service is subject to the terms of your agreement with the relevant Merchants and their respective privacy policies which may be made available on their webpages.
4.3. U Mobile provides the billing and payment facility only and is not responsible for the content, quality, availability, delivery, functionality, or support of any Service. Any issue relating to the Service must be directed to the relevant Merchant unless it relates solely to an incorrect U Mobile billing entry.
5. Charges, Billings and Limits
5.1. Prices for the Services are set by the relevant Merchant. Unless otherwise stated at the point of purchase, DCB transactions will be billed in Ringgit Malaysia and may include or be subject to applicable taxes required by law.
5.2. DCB charges will be billed to your postpaid bill or deducted from your prepaid balance, as applicable. Mobile data and roaming data charges may separately apply when you browse, purchase, access, download, cancel, or request a refund for any Service.
5.3. If you are a postpaid subscriber, DCB usage is subject to your credit limit and any applicable transaction, daily, monthly, tenure-based, or account-level limits imposed by U Mobile. For postpaid subscribers with line tenure of less than seventy-five (75) days, the maximum DCB spend is RM100 for the entire 75 days. Current limits for other eligible postpaid subscribers are:
(a) RM250.00 per day; and
(b) RM1,000.00 per calendar month
5.4. If you are a prepaid subscriber, DCB usage is subject to sufficient balance and the following current limits:
(a) RM500.00 per transaction; and
(b) RM5,000.00 per calendar month.
5.5. DCB charges may not always be reflected on a real-time basis. You remain responsible for all valid charges incurred, including transactions processed before the latest billed or unbilled balance is updated.
5.6. U Mobile may revise any DCB limit from time to time.
6. Subscription Services
6.1. If a Service is subscription-based, you authorise recurring charges at the renewal frequency disclosed by the relevant Merchant, platform, or app store at the time of subscription.
6.2. It is your responsibility to review the subscription terms, pricing, renewal frequency, and cancellation process before subscribing.
6.3. Cancellation must be made directly with the relevant Merchant, platform, or app store in accordance with its applicable process. Charges validly incurred before cancellation becomes effective remain payable and are not automatically refundable.
7. Refunds, Port Out and Account Changes
7.1. Any request for refund, cancellation, replacement, or support relating to the underlying Service must be made directly to the relevant Merchant in accordance with its applicable terms and policies.
7.2. U Mobile will only process a refund, reversal, or bill adjustment if:
(a) The relevant Merchant, platform or app store confirms or instructs that it is approved; or
(b) U Mobile determines there has been an incorrect billing entry directly caused by U Mobile.
7.3. Any approved refund will be credited to your prepaid account or reflected in your postpaid bill, as applicable and in accordance with U Mobile’s billing process.
7.4. If you port your mobile number to another mobile operator, terminate your line, change your plan, or cease to be an eligible U Mobile subscriber, you will no longer be able to use your U Mobile Account to buy the Service from the effective date of that change, but you remain responsible for all valid fees and charges incurred before such date.
7.5. Any refund after port-out, termination, suspension, or account change will only be processed if operationally feasible and supported by the relevant Merchant or payment intermediary.
8. Data, Notices and Change
8.1. By providing your personal information or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have given us your consent to collect, record, hold, store, use and disclose your personal information for purposes which are necessary or related to the provision of the Service in accordance with U Mobile’s Privacy Notice.
8.2. U Mobile may send purchase, renewal, failed charge, refund, reversal, or service-related notices by SMS, app notification, email, bill message, or any other designated communication channel.
8.3. U Mobile may amend these Terms or modify, suspend, or discontinue DCB or any part of it from time to time by notice published on U Mobile’s website or through any other designated communication channel. Your continued use of DCB after the effective date of any change constitutes your acceptance of that change.
9. Liability and General
9.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, U Mobile excludes all liability for any loss, damage, cost, expense, delay, interruption, defect, or failure arising from or in connection with:
(a) The use of your U Mobile Account to buy the Services, your purchase of the Services and your access to the Services
(b) Any act or omission of a Merchant, platform, app store, or payment intermediary; or
(c) Your failure to secure your mobile line, SIM, device, or account credentials.
If you are below 18 years of age, your parents or guardians, agree to release U Mobile from and indemnify U Mobile against all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury or for loss or damage; whether direct or indirect, special or consequential arising from use of your U Mobile Account to buy the Services, your purchase of the Services and your access to the Services.
9.2. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
9.3. U Mobile does not own the copyright, trademarks, services marks or other marks of the Merchants. These marks are owned and registered by their respective owners.
9.4. These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the courts of Malaysia shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms.
